Combining the definitive sounds of French coldwave with the unconventional time signatures of No Wave, Second Still crafts a sound soaked in nostalgia but also one that marches onwards towards the future.
In April 2017, The LA trio released their first, self-titled album which was named “best post-punk debut LP of 2017” by Post-Punk.com. After an extensive tour including a first EU run, the band returned in April 2018 with the EP ‘Equals’, which saw the band evolving their sound and progressing forward into sonically uncharted territory. In addition to this, Second Still also released a 5-song Part Time Punks live session in which the band experimented with live drums for the first time. A new EU tour followed, including multiple shows with Whispering Sons and a performance at the famous Wave Gotik Treffen.
The band spent the following winter writing their next album ‘Violet Phase’ that got released in May 2019. Produced by Ben Greenberg (Uniform, The Men,...), synths lead the way on most of the songs; violin and saxophone make appearances; and guitar sometimes doesn’t show up at all.
